European vs American: various visual representations.

This is a general visual ‘outline’ of the most well-observed differences between bloodlines in America versus European bloodlines, showing several breeds. Keep in mind that every breed has many bloodlines, and both continents will have leaner and bulkier dogs that have not come from the opposite country’s bloodlines. So, again, this is just general, but what is highly observed within both the show and working dogs of both places.

In each photo, the American dog is on the left, European on the right.

Dobermans; both dogs have finished their championships.

Giant Schnauzers; both dogs have finished their championships.

Boxers (perhaps the most notable differences); both have finished their championships.

Great Danes (head study); both have finished their championships.

As you can see, bloodlines make a very big difference in the appearance of a dog. Furthermore, standards are not the same in every country within a single breed. And many minor changes are made based in various clubs. Some breeders also breed out undesired traits within standards that tamper with health, in an attempt to create a healthier dog that is still able to fit the bill of what the breed was meant to be.

Hopefully this helps clear up any confusion about the American vs European bloodline debates, or any that any of you may have been curious about.

Take the Pledge: Don't support pet stores that sell puppies!

Any money you spend still helps support a horrible cause, unfortunately, whether you are buying the dog itself or just a product.

Please note, this does not include pet stores that do in-store adoptions, such as Petsmart.

Dragon's Den's Arlene supports MatchMakerPet, a pet dating site.

The link above will lead you to the page set up on the CBC website for this project that Arlene herself bought into.

This comes as quite a shock, considering this show was aired after Marketplace did a special on puppy mills, and just after Toronto banned the sale of puppies in pet stores.

This website will be a haven for backyard breeders and irresponsible owners to make money off of.

Perhaps with enough help, we can get some attention brought to this disgusting, horrible website that promotes such poor breeding practices.

Lennox NEWS!!! Fraudulent witness testimony, DEMANDS Lennox to be freed.

Alexandra Lightfoot was one of three Belfast City Council dog wardens to give evidence  in Belfast courts in the case brought against Lennox, the six-year-old bulldog/Labrador Retriever who’s a service and therapy dog for a 12-year-old severely disabled girl.

Note: Lennox IS NOT FREE YET. But with these two fradulent testimonies, it is absolutely illegal and absurd to keep the dog in the horrendous conditions he is currently in and has been in for over a year.

Tallack states that a dog should be able to be punched, hit and kicked and should not bite as a result. He was paid up to $6,000 for this absurd testimony.

This type of DANGEROUS mindset is absolutely disgusting and both Tallack AND Lightfoot need to be held accountable.

Photos of Lightfoot kissing and hugging Lennox can be found at the bottom of the page. This is interesting, considering she said he was the most aggressive dog she’d ever met and that she was terrified of him.

Hopefully this is more than enough to send this boy home. His hair is falling out and he has no companionship.

PETITION: Sign in support of Ontario repealing their breed ban!

Best Friends Animal Society set up this petition in hopes of helping Ontario repeal the horrible BSL set in place nearly a decade ago. With elections coming up, bully owners and admirers are on the edge of their seats and tips of their paws awaiting the verdict on what will happen with the current breed ban.

Fingers crossed that the massive attention to this issue this year will do some good!
